GRAVESTONE REPLICA
58” high x 26” wide

This “stone” is carved from wood and painted to look like slate. It is an exact reproduction of an early gravestone found in Rockingham, Vermont – near the artist’s home. It comes with hanging hardware mounted to its back. It reads: “Sacred to the memory of Betty Lane who died June 22nd 1791 in the 34th year of her age & also her twins, one still born, the other age 3 days. Our flesh shall slumber in the ground until the last trumpet’s joyful sound. Then burst the chains with sweet surprise, and in our Saviour’s image rise.”
