FRAMED FLAG
32" wide x 26" high

This flag is made from metal house flashing and the edges are snipped with tin shears to simulate a fringe. It is hand painted with numerous layers of paint which produces a look of aged cloth. Those who have seen the piece are surprised to learn that it's made from metal rather than fabric. The look is clearly antique without appearing contrived. The flag design, with its 13 stars was first used during the revolutionary war but later revived by Union troops during the Civil War. There is a biblical passage used by the abolitionists of this time that is penned onto the white bars of the flag. The verse is taken from Jeremiah 9:23,24.
