This is a reproduction of an eagle that was designed and carved by Samuel McIntyre who was an early American architect. He designed many stately home and civic buildings in the early republic. The original eagle hung over the doorway of the Custom House in Salem, Massachusetts but is now in the Peabody Museum of Essex County.
