MONHEGAN ISLAND EIDER
31" long x 17" high x 15" deepEiders were once hunted off the coast of Maine and Nova Scotia and were prized for their downy feathers. Because eiders gathered on the ocean, rather than inland, hunters needed to use oversized decoys that could be noticed on the waves. This carving is the largest and most imposing of Will's decoys and, like the Sentinel Goose, it is hollowed out.
